One day in 2007 I found an old demo labeled "The Best Song I've (n)Ever Written" in a forgotten folder on a hard drive. It was one part, 30 seconds long, and had no words. I could never find a place for it. I ended up writing a song around it and spent a good amount of time recording it. As luck would have it, the computer I was using at the time crashed and wiped out every trace of that version of the song. It was actually a lot different than "Printed Things" and had no words. I'm not even sure what it was called at the time. I'm glad it got erased. This version is much better. And this version is actually "Printed Things" version 2.0. The original mix of this song contained completely different lyrics and a vocal melody that sort of went along with the lead guitar part. The words originally had something to do with two people locking themselves in a room and writing stories as if they were given the sole duty of writing stories for the rest of the world. Or something like that. The new words are different and neater. Now with guitar solo goodness!
lyrics
The money has so much to offer you back in the land of the free.
The magazine that you see berating your TV,
they start the media wars in your living room.
Make me a plan.
Present it to me.
I'll say very angrily, "you're mostly wrong."
I have better idea, we'll just, we'll sit around here.
I like art and things like that.
Sometimes the print concedes now that the radio needs more good front line troops.
My favorite tunes are the ones that leave me blue.
Being winners now, what does that entail?
Yes I think we've found several workarounds.
Piece together these stories you've unearthed and tell me if you find something worth your time.
